I'm so surprised to read the Rebecca's story! She is almost the same as me.
I came Malaysia last month with my husband. The first few days, I was full of energy to understand what the Malaysian said.(These people speak in English.)
But days went by and now, I'm a little bit frusrated and nervous. I can't understand what they are saying.
So, I decided I had to improve my listening skills more. All day long I've tried watching TV news (CNN, BBC, etc) and Cooking Programs till I was satisfied. A few weeks passed to do so.
And this morning, I open my dictionary and my notebook to write some notes, I eventually read a sentense on the front page.
"The bigger world beyond the window".
Oh my... Right!
To satisfy with the English which is not my first language is so ridiculous. I should have gone out and met people and spoken again and again.
And thank you for your effort like this good web site.
