Funny English: Achieving Fluency
Hi Diana, Today I read some topics, its amazing and interesting too, but I want to speak fluent English like you, in a short period of time. Is it possible at the age of 30? I am eager to learn English and while I am studying it is understandable, but when outside this system I am searching for words. Do you get what am trying to say? My apologies for this English sentence.
Hello,
Thanks for writing me your question. First things first, of course you can learn English and be able to speak it fluently when you are 30 years old. I would argue that you can learn English at ANY age and be able to speak it fluently. It just depends on what you are doing.
We all know that speaking fluent English comes when you speak and listen to English on a regular basis. In order to do this I highly recommend that you find an English activity that you really enjoy, so that you will be motivated to do it everyday.
My husband surfs YouTube and listens to political speeches to improve this English. He likes that the videos use real English and that they are short. It is a great way to use English everyday.
As for you second concern -not being able to speak fluently when you are outside of the classroom- this comes with time and practice. As long as you continue to use your English and are not afraid to make a couple of mistakes you will notice an improvement.
Remember...learning English is a lifelong project that will continue to grow and improve over time. Nothing will magically make your English better but you are 100% in control.
